Google (and other search engines) will find your fansite once any website links to it that is already ranked. But to rank better in Google you need many links from sources related to your fansite. You also need quality content (preferably original). Basically if you copy/paste (aka quote) an article be sure to add some “original content” even if it is just you “blogging” your thoughts.
When Google ranks sites it looks at the # of links and the % of original content to rank sites accordingly. The only other thing you can do to help your ranking is social media and more links and more content!
Google also LOVES websites that update frequently. So the more you update the better.
